METI/VIPO Location Incentive Program
Japan's flagship incentive gives a 50% cash rebate on production and post-production costs spent in Japan. METI runs it through VIPO. The program caps each project at ¥1 billion (~$6.6M) and takes applications in four rounds a year.
Eligibility and Application Process
Productions must spend ¥500M+ (~$3.3M) in Japan, or run a ¥1B+ total budget with ¥200M+ spent in Japan. Only Japanese companies can apply, so we act as your named local partner to help with applications.

Japan's 47 prefectures and major cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Okinawa have their own film offices. Each one offers location access, permit help, and production support.
