On Location
Production Services Across Japan
Our production teams work across Japan. We handle everything from multi-story studio builds in Yokohama to run-and-gun doc shoots through the lanes of Asakusa and the mountain roads up to Mount Fuji.
Crews sized to the project, not the template β agile enough for Asakusa back streets, technical enough for Mount Fuji aerial work.
We deploy trained crews backed by pro-grade gear, and we run on-set logistics with the care global clients expect and the local know-how Japanese sites need. Each team β camera, lighting, sound β runs through one point of contact. That keeps your shoot lean even when the schedule is tricky or many sites are in play.
Camera & Cinematography sits at the core of what we offer. Our DPs bring credits from both controlled studio rooms and tough exterior conditions. When a shoot needs motion work, our Steadicam & Gimbal operators handle it all, from long tracking shots through the back streets of Fukuoka to fast-moving lifestyle content in Shibuya.
When a shoot needs to leave the ground, our Drone Videography teams are cleared to work across OK'd zones. They deliver aerial views over sites ranging from Osaka's urban canopy to the snowfields of Hokkaido.
FAQs
Production FAQs
Common questions about our production services, crew availability, and equipment support.
What crew sizes can you provide for productions in Japan?
We scale crews to fit the job. A documentary may run on just two people, while a feature unit can span from two to 100. For commercial work, a typical budget of $12,000 to $25,000 covers a director of photography, camera crew, gaffer with electrical gear, key grip, sound mixer, boom operator, and the art and hair-and-makeup staff you need. We've crewed full Japanese units for Netflix and Amazon series, and we've also run single-day corporate interviews with just a shooter and audio.
How quickly can you mobilize a crew in Japan?
For urgent jobs, our Tokyo crew can start within 48 to 72 hours. Regional shoots take more lead time, so plan at least seven to ten days for work beyond Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. In Japan, the real limit is location permits, not the supply of ready crew. If you plan ahead, 3β4 weeks lets us build the right team rather than just the available one.
Do your crews speak English?
Our department heads β DPs, gaffers, sound mixers, and 1st ADs β are either bilingual or strong English speakers, which is key on global shoots. Crews below department-head level often have limited English, so we always set up clear communication chains. For demanding shoots, we suggest a bilingual AD or set translator to keep everything running smoothly.
Can you provide equipment along with crew?
We work with Imagica, NAC, Ginichi, and other Tokyo rental houses every day. Most gear packages come with crew who stay with their kit, so the gaffer runs the lighting and the DP picks the camera gear. For global shoots that bring their own equipment, we handle customs and carnet records. Japanese rental firms inspect gear closely before release, so it arrives pre-tested and ready to use.
How do Japanese crew rates compare to other countries?
Japanese rates run higher than most Asian markets, yet stay competitive with Western rates for the quality you get. The big factor is pace: Japanese crews work with great precision and a careful step-by-step method, which can stretch shoot days longer than you'd budget elsewhere. We quote realistic day counts based on how Japanese crews work, so there are no surprises.
