SCENE 01 / COLOR GRADING
Color Grading
Creative color grading that transforms your footage into cinematic masterpieces with emotional depth and visual impact.
Grading is the creative work of shaping color, contrast, and tone. These choices set the mood, style, and meaning of a story. Working in calibrated suites, colorists shape the feel of each scene to serve the director's vision.
We set up grading sessions with skilled colorists in calibrated suites. Our team handles media prep, reference material, and scheduling. That way your production gets the color treatment that brings the director's vision to life on screen.

Creative Color Grading for Japanese Theatrical and Streaming
Where correction ends, grading begins. Our colorists work to shape the emotional palette your story needs.
Sessions run out of DaVinci Resolve Studio suites in Tokyo and Osaka. Each room uses tuned DCI-P3 and Rec.709 reference tracking. When premium streaming or theatrical delivery calls for it, HDR-grade rooms with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ chains sit at Imagica, Sony PCL, and OmnibusJapan. Our colorists move between Resolve, Baselight, and FilmLight to match the set pipeline.
We build looks scene by scene against picture lock. The brief may call for the bright neon of a Shinjuku night, the soft winter light of a Kyoto period drama, or the muted sodium glow of a Yokohama dockside thriller. Each grade runs through a creative brief and look dev on the hero scenes. From there we work across the full timeline and add a polish pass that locks the deliverable.
HDR masters carry SDR trim passes for standard release. Remote grading sessions stream to colorist suites anywhere in the world for real-time director feedback. You get theatrical-grade masters that meet Netflix Japan IMF, NHK 4K/8K spec, and Toho cinema delivery. You also get a visual mark strong enough to carry the show's identity from poster to platform.
We book grading time against your picture-lock date, so the suite is held when the cut is ready. Turnaround scales to scope. A hero spot grades in a day, while a feature needs a longer block for hero looks, scene work, and trim passes. Each look dev round, full-timeline pass, and HDR trim is checked before sign-off. That keeps the grade clean as it moves into conform and final mastering.
We run each session bilingually, with English-language coordination beside our Japanese colorist teams. Overseas directors stay close through real-time remote review and clear written notes. That keeps the creative intent intact across the language gap. Quotes come in Japanese yen and state the 10 percent consumption tax up front. Look dev, scene grading, and HDR or SDR deliverable passes are costed as separate lines, so the grading budget stays clear from brief to final master.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What color grading software do you use?
We mainly use DaVinci Resolve Studio for its top color tools and flexible workflow. Our colorists also know Baselight and FilmLight systems well. We match the tools to the project, and we can slot into your existing pipeline when needed.
Can you create specific film looks or period aesthetics?
Yes, we build custom looks from subtle natural grades to bold stylized ones. Whether you need a drained thriller mood, warm period drama tones, or futuristic sci-fi looks, we craft distinct visuals that serve your story.
How do you handle HDR grading?
We grade in HDR natively on calibrated HDR reference monitors, then build SDR trim passes for standard release. Our pipeline supports HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG formats. Your content then looks stunning on any display.
Can we participate in remote grading sessions?
Yes, we offer full remote collaboration through calibrated streaming links with real-time interaction. You can join grading sessions from anywhere and give feedback as we work through your project together.
